This Week’s Highlights

Speaker: Past President Piper Tseng

Topic: The Rotary Foundation, Rotary’s Humanitarian Mission
–Global Grants in China And Beyond

The Rotary Foundation is the humanitarian arm of Rotary International.
Established in 1917, The Rotary Foundation’s mission is to advance world
understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health,
the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. This body of
work is supported by Foundation grants and done by Rotarians through
local projects.

In 2016-18, Global Grants applied and managed by China-based clubs had
gone from the previous 2 grants from two clubs to now 7 grants from 5
clubs. This has allowed Rotary to penetrate more into the local
communities to meet the local needs. District Foundation Chair Piper
explained what global grants are and how their multiplying effects have
allowed Rotary clubs to take on more and larger humanitarian projects.

We become Rotarians because we want to make a difference.

50% of your donations will go back to the district as DDF to fund clubs’
global grant projects. The rest of the 50% will fund grant projects
worldwide. On behalf of the many needy communities here in China as well
as in other countries we would like to encourage Rotarians to make this
important donations to the good cause.
